With the intention of ushering in a new era of responsible online gaming, seven of the largest US online sports betting and gaming operators have collaborated to launch the Responsible Online Gaming Association (ROGA).
Dr Shatley, with over 25 years of experience in the world of responsible gaming, has been appointed as ROGA’s Executive Director.
Her role will involve facilitating widespread education on responsible gaming topics for all relevant stakeholders.
Under her guidance, ROGA will undertake various initiatives, including research, consumer and industry education, promoting best practices, establishing an independent data clearinghouse and implementing an independent certification program.
The founding member companies of ROGA – representing over 85% of the legalised online sports betting and iGaming industry – have committed more than $20m in support of ROGA’s mission in its first year.
These member companies include BetMGM, bet365, DraftKings, Fanatics Betting and Gaming, FanDuel, Hard Rock Digital and Penn Entertainment.
Commenting on her role within the initiative, Dr Shatley said: “I am humbled, honoured and excited to be selected to lead ROGA during this important period of growth in legalised mobile gaming.
“Many of America’s largest legal mobile gaming operators will be establishing a framework that helps to aid in responsible gaming education and awareness.
“By coming together with a clear set of objectives, ROGA and our members will work to enhance consumer protections and help provide easier and more efficient access to responsible gaming tools for consumers to enjoy the entertainment of online gaming.”
