Parag Agrawal has been named the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Fanatics Holdings.

In this newly created position, Agrawal will oversee the company’s internal digital system transformation in the areas of accounting, financial planning and analysis and human resources.

In such a technological role, Agrawal’s appointment may well be an important one for Fanatics’ fledgling gaming division, especially since its recent deal to take over PointsBet US.

PointsBet Group CEO Sam Swanell initially agreed to sell PointsBet’s US business to Fanatics for $150m, before the PointsBet Board later agreed to accept Fanatics’ improved offer of $225m. Fanatics raised its price in response to a late bid from DraftKings.

Agrawal will build a dedicated IT infrastructure for the corporate entity of the company and collaborate with other businesses to further improve global IT capabilities throughout the Fanatics enterprise.

He will report to Glenn H. Schiffman, EVP and CFO of Fanatics.

Schiffman said: “Parag couldn’t be joining at a better time. His experience and expertise are exactly what we need to ensure that we not only enhance our current systems but that we continue to adopt solutions moving forward. I am thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Agrawal spent nine years with Chobani before joining Fanatics, where he held various positions with increasing levels of responsibility, most recently as CIO.

Additionally, he has worked at Avon, American Promotional Events, PFSweb, Inc., Metamor Global Solutions and Materne North America, the company that makes GoGo squeeZ products.

Agrawal said: “Fanatics has done an incredible job innovating the fan and partner experience. I am excited to bring that same energy and mindset to our internal systems and platforms.

“I look forward to working alongside Glenn and the team to ensure an experience that continues to allow us to grow and succeed together as a global organisation.”
