The operator has significantly expanded its sports sponsorship portfolio in recent months. In January, it signed a similar agreement with the NHL to become its official betting partner, as well as extending partnerships with the German Ski Association and the Austrian Ski Association at the end of 2021.
Interwetten’s sponsorship deal with PDC Europe will allow the brand to reach new audiences across the continent. As part of the agreement, the brand will offer unique fan experiences across the Tour, under a promotional slogan: “1 evening, 8 friends & 0 costs.”
Stefan Sulzbacher, Speaker of the Board, Interwetten: “Darts is an exciting development opportunity for us as the sport continues to grow in popularity in our core markets – Germany and Austria. We are therefore very proud to sign a multi-year partnership with a reputed organisation such as PDC Europe.
“This will allow us to offer our customers an even larger portfolio of entertainment and will also enable us to set new objectives in the development of new markets.”
Darts has been one of the most popular sports across the continent, particularly in the UK, for some time. The European Tour is comprised of 13 events that take place annually.
According to ps released by the PDC, the final of the 2022 PDC World Championship attracted 1.5 million viewers on Sky Sports in the UK. For context, an average of 1.9 million viewers tune in to Sky Sports’ Premier League broadcasts.
Werner von Moltke, CEO, PDC Europe, said: “The partnership with Interwetten makes me very glad. I have rarely experienced such a competent and motivated partner.
“I know that Interwetten not only wants to present itself to us as a sponsor, it will also ensure that our events become even more attractive and that the exchange with our fans will also intensify.”
