The Delaware Lottery has announced its involvement as a Level 2 participant in the 2023 Gift Responsibly Campaign, in partnership with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the International Center for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviours at McGill University.
Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery, said: “In addition to being illegal, purchasing Delaware Lottery Draw Games, Instant Games and Sports Pick for minors may increase their likeliness for future gambling problems. The Gift Responsibly campaign is a great opportunity for us to help educate audiences about the dangers associated with underage gambling.”
To support the 2023 Gift Responsibly Campaign, the Delaware Lottery plans to utilise social media platforms and enlist retailer support to disseminate awareness messages throughout November and December, focusing on discouraging underage participation in lottery activities.
Keith Whyte, NCPG Executive Director, added: “I commend each Gift Responsibly Campaign participant for their commitment to raising awareness about the risks of youth gambling. Now, more than ever, we must continue to insist that lottery tickets are never appropriate gifts for children.”
On 1 December 2023, it was announced that 66 global lotteries and 84 community organisations united for the 2023 Gift Responsibly Campaign.
The Delaware Lottery’s participation in the 2023 Gift Responsibly Campaign follows its recent collaborations with Scientific Games, introducing the Delaware Lottery Players Club, a loyalty program and mobile app designed to increase player engagement.
