Premier League Darts Arena Preview – The BIC

The BIC, BournemouthCapacity: 10,000Week 2Thursday 12th February

Week Two. We go again. Week 1 brought us the newest arena in the Premier League, and Week 2 bring us the longest serving, and most memorable. Right on the south coast, the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) has an atmosphere like no other. Sold out every time for the ten years it has been on the circuit, the venue’s smaller size only serves to ramp up the noise and electricity in the air, especially for the derby day clashes. There’s Scot vs. Scot as Peter Wright takes on Gary Anderson, and Stoke vs. Stoke as Adrian Lewis clashes with Phil Taylor. Who will claim their local bragging rights?

Betway Premier League Rewind: Last year in Bournemouth…

Week 2, Thursday 13th February 2014

In Week Two last season, Bournemouth brought the drama in spades. The night’s opener saw a massive shock as heavily fancied (and eventual Premier League winner) van Barneveld was beaten 7-5 by Wes Newton. Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright shared a nail-biting 6-6 draw to keep both their unbeaten records intact, as did then-defending champion Michael van Gerwen who downed Scotsman Robert Thornton by two legs.

After Gary Anderson thumped Simon Whitlock 7-2 with relative ease, the biggest story of the night was the 7-2 demolition of six-time champion Phil Taylor by Adrian Lewis in their all-Stoke clash. Fighting back from 5-0 down at one point, The Power looked a shadow of his former self despite winning the UK Open Qualifier the previous week.
