Pixellot is a technology firm specialising in the production of sports broadcasts. Founded in 2014, the company uses AI-driven software to automate thousands of sporting broadcasts and streams, limiting the need for human involvement.
Through its camera systems, fans can watch previously neglected, or niche, sports from around the world.
With this deal, Genius Sports will be able to distribute footage and data insights to sports leagues and organisations with which it partners. Pixellot’s content portfolio will add to its own library of rights and data feeds, which is then licensed to sports franchises, coaches, betting operators and regulators.
Mark Locke, CEO, Genius Sports, commented: “Providing leagues of every level with a premium live streaming solution is a fundamental pillar of our work with sports partners.
“By expanding our agreement with Pixellot, we will allow more sports to take control of their streaming strategies. Together we will elevate the status and visibility of sports leagues, reaching new and existing fans and sponsors around the world.”
Pixellot primarily specialises in basketball, football, volleyball, ice hockey and baseball, with the company covering over 100 competitions.
Genius Sports and Pixellot have worked in partnership with a number of leagues since 2020, including the Argentine Football Association, the Croatian Basketball Federation and Israeli Basketball Association.
Alon Werber, CEO, Pixellot, said: “Integrating live video and data with new viewing and analysis options is already impacting millions of fans, athletes, and coaches around the world.
“This exciting new partnership with Genius Sports brings additional monetisation options that will create new long-term revenue streams for sports organisations.”
