The Gambling Commission announces formation of its Industry Forum

Gambling CommissionListen To Article

The Gambling Commission has released the first details of its Industry Forum, including its roles, responsibilities and the positions it will begin hiring for.

The Industry Forum will act as a separate panel of industry experts to provide the Commission with operator insights.

Although the Industry Forum will provide insights, it will be a different entity from the Lived Experience Advisory Panels, the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling and the Digital Advisory Panels.

Operators will be able to share their views on various industry topics, such as account management, consultations and data programmes.

Marcus Boyle, Gambling Commission Chair, said: “We’ve always listened to the views of the industry when deciding how best to make progress, but this new forum will give us another way to work with representatives from the industry we regulate.”

It’s anticipated that the Industry Forum will consist of around 10 members, each of whom will represent an area of the gambling sector.

The Commission will begin the recruitment process for the Chair of the Forum in September, which will include a three-year term for the appointee.

During the same time, the Commission will also invite expressions of interest from those who wish to apply to become a member.

Members of the Industry Forum will be listed on the website, along with the advice that they have provided to the Commission.

Following a string of articles reporting on problem gambling, the Gambling Commission has published an open letter regarding statistic misuse by the media.
