LA Galaxy showed a completely different side to the impression they gave the world last season. Although they were better than a star-studded Inter Miami on Sunday at the Dignity & Health Sports Park, in the end a brilliant move between old friends Jordi Alba and Messi ended up giving Tata Martino’s team a 1-1 draw and a valuable point in an ultra-competitive start to MLS 2024.
The game, despite the excitement, was not without controversy. LA Galaxy’s Marky Delgado was given a second yellow card and sent off for a foul on Sergio Busquets. However, the rage was not long in coming to the surface as in the replay it can be seen that it was the Inter Miami midfielder who stepped on the Galaxy player, and not the other way around.
Delgado has responded to the sending off. Not wanting to get into trouble, he recognised that sometimes words are enough to show disagreement. Replying to a post by Hérculez Gómez, Delgado questioned the action with which he was sent off by the referee with an implicit message of disbelief and frustration.
